Ras Al Khaimah has consistently outpaced the UAE’s national GDP growth in six of the past eight years—a testament to its resilient and well-diversified economy. In 2016, the emirate achieved a robust GDP growth of 4.5%, outperforming the UAE’s overall growth rate of 3.1%. Even during challenging periods such as 2009, when the country experienced a 5.2% GDP contraction, Ras Al Khaimah maintained a positive growth rate of 1.6%, underscoring its economic stability.

The hospitality sector has played a key role, with its contribution to GDP doubling from 2% in 2012 to over 4% in 2016—a trend expected to continue as developments like Al Marjan Island attract both visitors and long-term residents.
